The fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas face significant challenges. Recent direct negotiations between the United States and Hamas, facilitated by Egyptian and Qatari mediators, aim to transition into the second phase of the ceasefire agreement. However, these efforts have been complicated by President Trumps stern ultimatum demanding the release of all hostages held by Hamas. Trump’s warning threatens severe consequences if the hostages, including American citizens, are not promptly freed. Hamas has dismissed this ultimatum, insisting hostages will only be freed in exchange for a lasting truce. They argue that such threats will only encourage Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to retract from the ceasefire agreement.
